Thursday, July 06, 2006Yay! Finished blocks and watched 王的男人 after our last paper.. KongJi! Heh, the actor is very very good looking. Actually 他很美，but the entire show is actually quite sad.. I felt it was quite a depressing/content heavy show to be watching after 3 hours of LEP paper (2) in the afternoon, but it was worth watching anyway. The psychotic king acted quite well and looked the part, whilst the 戏子s were very endearing. You could really see the struggles and pains of the supposed 贱民 as they try to make a living with a job they enjoy. Then it just so happens that because of KongJi's extreme beauty he gets into a lot of undesirable situations with people in power. And because of his kind nature, he feels pity for the despotic king and doesn't want to leave the palace in order to help the king through his mental trauma(?). The king's mother was apparently killed when he was a child and so it affected him so badly he grew up and became violent, emotionally disturbed etc. The bloody scenes are kind of gruesome and the blood's a bit fake, but I guess the image is still quite impactful and vivid.. Oh yar, the NC 16 rating is there for a good reason, the references and jokes made are sometimes quite crude and there's this particular scene... =X Kong Ji! (孔吉!)
