Monday, September 19, 2005Okay, this is going to be a hopefully quite short personal recount/narrative post about yesterday, mainly revolving around xue lang hu. This is due to the very real but sudden realisation about my severe lack of time for studying for my promotional exams, which reflected in the previous entry, is of utmost importance in ensuring I get promoted to J2 and not stuck doing some new syllabus or the old syllabus at another school. Anyway, without going off tangent, let's see what happened yesterday... Woke up in the morning as usual, perhaps later than usual, but still didn't help very much. I'm someone who needs a lot a lot of sleep, and alarms normally annoy me to no end. But in circumstances as such (i.e. we are dictated by time and schedules not vice versa) I had no choice but to set such an alarm to rouse me from my peaceful slumber. Lugging my notes and stuff out, I set out to mug BIO! I was overestimating myself by bringing 2 extra papers out in case I finished my biology stuff and wanted to switch topic. Unfortunately I took nearly the entire day to figure out and memorise my respiration stuff (i.e. glycolysis and kreb's cycle), but it felt rather nice to accomplish such a feat. Except, that in order to recall the (long lengthy tedious) 10 steps of glycolysis and pretty kreb's cycle, I have to write down everything in order. That of course is a major inconvenience, but I highly doubt that they will ask you for like the 7.5th step of glycolysis or something right? I mean they can be evil, but sadistic to such an extent? I think I should keep my big mouth shut in case they really do that. But anyway, so I finished mugging lovely bio and trooped off to city hall to meet beng for dinner! Arriving earlier than expected, and having been requested by my brother to buy the new Fish Leong cd (which is really good by the way), I went to HMV to look around. Then I decided that looking around at HMV was much more interesting than stoning at the MRT station, so I happily smsed beng to tell her to look for me at HMV when she came. Not till like practically 20 minutes-half an hour later did it finally occur to me that beng still doesn't have her phone! In that sudden flash of brillance, I paid for the cd and rushed off back to the MRT station where poor beng was waiting patiently for horrid little me. But at least we found each other in the end, and proceeded to have an interesting albeit niao-y lunch at...Thai Express! (insider joke yea? -wink-) They have quite nice er soft shell crab and curry and tom yam soup, if you're feeling rich enough to pay that is... After which we proceeded on our quest, pilgrimmage to be more exact, to the indoor stadium to watch the very impressive Jacky Cheung! Or rather his musical, Snow.Wolf.Lake aka XueLangHu. But the road was long and fraught with dangers! We travelled along winding deserted roads, on the expressway (due to the pathway beside it being fenced up for renovations), climbed across barriers (in the middle of the expressway), crossed the expressway (twice to be exact), walked along traffic on the expressway (and consequently getting honked at everytime we stopped to see if we had a chance to cross the road), etc. Essentially it was a extremely nerve-wrecking experience and something that although was thrilling once, but I never want to go through again. <- I suddenly missed my dad's car a lot! Anyway, once we got there, and past the throngs of people and smoke, we entered the indoor stadium... And I for one, was awed by the seating capacity of the stadium as well as the fact that the stage was erm open at 3 sides? Like |____| can be seen, only the er ---- or top/back part can't. We were both trying to be trigger happy and yet at the same time not get caught... Camera phones are nice little things, but they take small photos (i.e. moon -> lightbulb arh? -shakes head-) They have relatively passable recording systems too, but small memory capacity! Haiz, my phone has nice functions, but none of them are of that good a standard (obviously) as something that is built specifically for that function only, like a camera, recorder etc. Oh well, I'm quite content with it for the moment. =) Nice phone. On to the main story... The plot was sadly typical, but I already knew that before hand and came looking forward to the music more than the plot. Thankfully the music didn't disappoint and it was really enjoyable. Zhang Xue You's voice can really rang ni ting chu er you... The duets were sweet, although Xu Hui Xin seemed a bit young in comparison and so her voice was of a slightly more childlike(?), definitely higher but er saccharine sweet sort. But they sounded good together... I quite enjoyed myself and the experience was...good =) I'm trying to see if I have enough cash to go for the Mayday concert at the end of the year. XD Should be a totally different experience altogether, and more audience participation? So more fun ba... Rather than passively sitting in the chair and being unable to interact or share in the emotions of the actors on stage as directly. The most dreaded thing after that was the ride home. This was when I truly started missing having private transport... The entire situation was chaotic, all the taxi phonelines were busy and the bus was crammed full of people! Plus it was close to 12 and so there wouldn't be any MRT trains left? And of course me, being the quite geographically challenged person I am, had absolutely no idea how to get home except via MRT or cab. So cab it was. Worse of all, I think the taxi companies hate me now... Whenever I call, I never seem to know where I am or where I want the cab to come and pick me. So it's always a battle to try and decipher road signs, find significant land marks and such. Not only did my heart feel the pinch (sheer stupidity for lack of direction + lack of sleep + reaching home LATE at night) my wallet felt the most impact... -piang- That was the sound of my heart shattering due to the added stress of being affected by the weight of my wallet. (Where the weight of my wallet [i.e. monetary value of it's contents] is inversely proportionate to the negative impact on my heart) Xin tong arH!!! Okay, that more or less sums up my Sunday, because after that I was so tired I just plonked on my bed and slept (after brushing my teeth and changing of course). And today I woke up most unwillingly due to the feeling of cold fingers on my cheek, after the first attempt at waking me up (by my mother) failed. |
