Thursday, February 10, 2005Ahem, before I start rattling on about stuff, Happy Lunar New Year people! Okay, HC celebrations seem nicer than ny's... Maybe it's just 'cos it's held at the central plaza, much more spacious than cramming everyone into the hall, then there are lots of cny decorations all over the central plaza, making it look more festive and such. Anyway, started the morning trying to help out with the setting up of the stall before I went to the lt. But in any case, I was essentially slacking around all the way until co performance. Co performance was also quite slacky, since no one takes cny songs very seriously, plus there were 12 or 13 dizis I think, so really quite extra. Then was street market, but I went back to ny with cg and ger. Managed to catch feng nian ji, but because of hall acoustics, it was really soft, then dizi like no tai feng except for caina and jaime who were bouncing at certain parts. Met kuo at the third floor and he gave me lots of funny/raise brow looks... XP Then saw miss chek's baby! Nicholas I think, quite cute... But then nearly all babies are cute, so a bit fei saying that he's cute. I'm rambling again, but anyway I'm quite miffed about the new security rules at ny, especially with regards to visiting. If you don't wear ny uniform, you aren't allowed back in by the side gate, yet when you walk to the main gate, they don't even bother to check your identity. So what's the point? Just to make you walk further? Bleh, so when we went in, the security guard doubted our identity as ex ny people, then when we walked out, a teacher (whom was leaving EARLY in a car btw) thought we were delinquents ponning school early. Ugh, utterly icky. =( Managed to get back to hc before street market was over, but by the time I reached the class stall, we were nearly done? I felt very slacky lahz, since there was nothing much for me to do, and cleaning up was quite quick since nearly everything was to be thrown. The street market was quite cool lahz, standard of food and stuff quite high? Then since it's only the j1s doing, there wasn't much repetition, and there was enough demand from both the j2s and j1s, although I think the j2s were quite sian. Then after that, we did mass dance! Okay, perhaps it's just because I've never been particularly enthusiastic about mass dance before, but I partnered bern and we sort of laughed our way through most of the dances, especially the turning bits. Then was faculty dances, and APOLLO ROCKS! Our fac dance is seriously the coolest one! Haha, but then I sort of couldn't remember the moves properly, so... But never mind, I think we won in the end if I'm not wrong, and we were the only fac to do the dance twice? -reflects- That has been a lengthy ramble narrative sort of thing... Very bad writing, -tsks self- First day of the Chinese New Year, and so far I've managed to get blisters because of the awful shoes I wore. That's probably the only grumpy inducing thing I've encountered today, since the rest of the time I was either stoning in front of the tv, sleeping or gambling. Went visiting very late today, since one relative went to the temple later than usual, so everything was just pushed back. =( Didn't like waiting, and since I was wearing a skirt, it was quite weird trying to sleep/sit in a comfortable position on the floor with a pillow. Then when we finally set off, my brother drove =) which wouldn't have been so bad, if not for the fact that my dad was niaoing his parking. So we'd reach the place early, spend a really long time trying to get the car parked properly, then set off to meet the rest of the family. And when we came back to my grandma's house, we had dinner, then the not so little kids sat down and started playing black jack. My cousin was in very good luck today, and we attributed it to his red shorts that he was wearing, since he ended up winning 60 or 70 dollars! Then his brother managed to lose quite a lot too... Oh well, I ended up losing about 3 dollars? And I didn't get to play mahjong! I fell asleep whilst waiting or something like that. After one day of CNY I've come to the conclusion that I can sleep a lot. Especially when there's nothing better to do. =) PS: Anyone want to watch constantine with me? |
