Tuesday, August 24, 2004Bleh, I shouldn't be blogging any more today, but I'm here to whine about a great big dragonfly that happened to visit my room just now. Okay, in my grandmother's words, hen xiao zhi er yi la... But in any case, it was happily flitting around my room, while I was trying to draw y=|3cos (x-90)| which is impossibly hard to draw when you're half wondering if the dragonfly will land on you. So I scurried outside and got my grandmother in to rescue me, because no matter how often people tell me that the biggest bugs are still smaller than the smallest humans, it's still a big bug. And the noise it makes, utterly distracting.... In came my grandmother with a broom trying to direct it in the general way of the window and it simply refused. It flew onto the ceiling, into the fan (past the grilles), behind my picture frame (got stuck there) and at one point I was quite freaked out about it actually landing on my bed, so I brought in Monday's edition of the classified ads and happily spread it on my bed. Then I decided if I didn't see it landing there I wouldn't get so disgusted, so I ran out to the kitchen to seek refuge and didn't come back in until my grandma said she tossed it out the window. Which isn't exactly inhumane, because it knows how to fly... And I'm entirely curious, how come insects (without wings) don't die when dropped from a great height? (in comparison to their body length anyway) It doesn't really seem quite probable, because an ant dropping from the table top would be equivalent to about at least a thousand storey building for a human? Unless their exoskeletons are really that tough... And once again I'm rambling about non syllabus related subjects. On another more optimistic note, I got a B for my mock exam! History mock! *runs around* Okay, I'm about 5 more marks away from an A, and if I study enough for Malayan History it might hu bu and then I can get my A! But as usual, must du shu first... |
